in my line of work i depend a lot on the polygonal lasso tool for cutting out even the most detailed of photos. but sometimes the polygonal lasso's 'rope' icon gets in the way of my cutting path making the procedure rather difficult at times. i know there is a way of removing that 'rope', but i just don't know how. can somebody please help?

you should use the pen tool for this kind of stuff, you can be so much more accurate.

Pressing Caps Lock changes the rope to a cross for more precise work. This works for most of the other tools too.

keep pressed the right button over the lasso tool button, then choose magnetic lasso... this things worsk great for 72dpi... but if you're working ar 150dpi or 300dpi try placing (use "place") the picture in illustrator... draw it all around what you need... copy it.. paste it in photoshop, and then use that drawing as a selection... why using illustrator? you can handle better the knots there than in photoshop... ...my 2 cents ;) |
