If I want to create an entire web page in photoshop and then slice it up in Dreamweaver. How big is the new document in Photoshop? 400x600 pixels.. etc. It would be greatly appreciated. I want to make sure I don't create graphics (particularly horizontally) that are too big for the browser Thank you in advance. |

You can either put it 800x600 pixels or 1024x768 pixels

Actually, if you set it to 800 x 600, some of the page will be cut off because of the scrollbar on the browser. So set it to 780 wide, if your target resolution is people with their computer's set to 800 x 600. I don't recommend making a site that is 1024 wide, because a lot of people don't use that high of a resolution, so they will have to scroll horizontally. The ideal thing to do is make your page stretch to any resolution, by using CSS. Or you can use a percentage table if you like. But make sure it can squish down to about 600 pixels, so that WebTV users can see it. If you care about that sort of thing... which I doubt you do. |

At my company, we go by Macromedia Dreamweaver's suggested pixel size, which is 760x420. This keeps whatever you create at a proportion good enough for most browsers to handle without having some of the graphics go off the side of the browser window.
