Area Calculator

I need to count the number of pixels in the white part of a person's eye.

Is there a way to:

(1) Use a tool (lasso?) to select only the eye white? (an area that includes all color within a certain amount of color variation?)
(Choose all the white pixels, and the slightly off-white ones surrounding the white area. The image is black and white, so color variation is solely along the white-black continuum.)

(2) Calculate the area (i.e. in pixels) of the selected area?

To be honest, i don't actually think there is a way to do this. The only way i can think of is to zoom right in and then to manually count the pixels.

However i could be wrong. :rolleyes:
