hello..first time posting here and I just had a question about the size of opening a "new" file. when I first bought the program, I was just making images on 8.5 x 11 inch files. a new, blank document was 1.29M and now just recently the same size document is 24.1M. If there is a simple solution I would love to hear it so I don't waste space!

thank you
rob.

When creating a new document, notice the color mode and the resolution settings. Mess with it and watch the document sizes..

Good luck

thank you for the reply...I have messed around with the controls a bit but it still won't bring it back down to where it was originally was when i first installed the program. Is there anyway to reset photoshop without uninstalling everything because I bought creative suite and do not want to have to reinstall everything.

thanks again
rob

Let me see...

8.5 x 11 at 72 pixels/inch will give you 1.39Megs... And to be honest, I think that is the setting you are after.

72 pixels/inch is the standard setting for screen based design... looks rubbish in print usually (go for around 150-300 pixels per inch) for text or at least 400 pixels per inch for artwork (as long as your printer can handle it!)

But anyway, I think the 72 is the setting you are looking for... That is standard.

I'm sorry, but watch theese settings:

see the document sizes??

BTW, PS remembers your last settings in this window, but clipboard images overrides it.
