My second question for the night

Wow, I must really be bored to be trying to figure out how to do two things at once. If you will point your browser here:

You will see in the upper left hand corner a very cool looking effect that involves a human face. How did they do this?

Are there any tutorials on the web you guys know of that explain in more detail how to do this? I've been looking for a while and I can't find any.

looks to me like someone just took some random shapes, used the wave tool, and then just did multiple layers with different blending options and rotations.

I think appying the crystalize filter and the wave filter and blur it a bit with a few different layers and blend modes should do it.
