I have scanned a few negatives with my Epson 3200 scanner through the import twain 3200. It brings the file up and I make my changes. Then I go to Save As and my only options are "TIFF", "PSD" or "RAW". How do I save it as a JPEG?
Pleae HELP!!

Thanks,
Senna

it's probably just a limitation of your scanner software, once you've saved it as a PSD or whatever and bring it into photoshop you can save for web as a jpg or any other format.

I did save them as a PSD and reopen them. When I go back to save them again I still have the same choices. What I am doing is scanning about 800 negatives. I want to keep the originals as a high resolution(300 dpi) 8x10 and then I was going to go back and save them for the web as a small dpi(72) and a smaller size( 3x6). For archive purposes, would I be better off saving the original as a PSD than a JPEG anyway?? I know JPEG format is a compressed format but I also know it is easier to work with. And if I wanted to convert them over later from PSD to JPEG I'm not sure I would be able to.

Thanks for your help and I look forward to your reply.

my only thought, if you can't save them as a JPG, is that you're in a higher color mode that only supports certain file formats. try going to Image -> Mode and make sure you're set to RGB at 8 bits/channel.

As far as saving the 72dpi versions I don't think it really matters if they're just for reference, might as well just do JPG to save on file size. Later on if you need to make modifications you can just modify and save the high res versions. There's no reason you shouldn't be able to save the PSD as a JPG at any time.

Figured it out. I had scanned them at 16-bit grey scale and I changed them to 8-bit and it worked. I thought that the higher bit would be ready but apperantly not.

Thanks for your help!!!
