I'm doing a project for my World Religions class, and we are to make a a poster board that is supposed to represent a newspaper. He showed examples of last years, and they were really bland, it just looked like cut out pieces of paper places on a posterboard with a newspaper-like title. I want to know if it is possible to make an image in photopshop, that basically looks like the front of a newspaper by my design, and print it out, of course, this is going on a poster board probably like 2ftx3ft. So I'd print out like 6 to 9 8x11 sheets with pieces of this huge picture, I'd just cut it out and glue it on the poster board, so itll more realistically resemble a newspaper. I'm fine with using photoshop and make images etc (unless someone has some useful tips)... I'm just concerned if I will be able to do this. I haven't been able to mess with it and figure it out, but I dont want to go through all of my project, print it, and it doesnt work or something. If not in photoshop, is there a plug-in, external program I can use? Thanks a bunch |

Sure thats possible. The only problem on the photoshop side of things is the image size. Its huge, especially at a high resolution. Make sure everything you want to include fits, like photos which will most likely need to be enlarged. If you could print it at 300dpi, go for it. Though it'd be smarter to drop it down. 240 or 200 should be enough with minimal loss in quality. If you have a good printer you could almost go 150 with acceptable results. Also remember to take borders into account. Its not 6 8x11's, its more like 6 7.5x10's. So your actual image should be a couple inches smaller than the document size. On the printing side of things, you have a few more issues. Make sure everything is lined up properly and you have enough of a border to cut out the image. I wouldn't even try this without atleast an xacto and a steady hand!! Then you need to focus on the seams. If you cut them out perfectly, you could line them up side by side. Though overlapping may be your best option to "minimize" the seams (you cant get rid of them). A good trick is to have a lot of image detail around the seams, that'll hide them pretty well. Also take a look at this. Though I wouldn't use it for this project, you may have fun looking around. http://homokaasu.org/rasterbator/ |

Thanks for the reply, my printer is OK plus it takes forever. I dont need this ti be 100% perfect, cause I bet my effort will already be given an A haha. I just want it to look good, and i learn something at the same time. I will only have about 4 pictures and then some border decorations, but newspapers dont often have fancy stuff anyway. How do I actually go about printing this, though? Especially if im cutting it (its of cours e not going to print on every piece of the paper)... |

The only way I figured out how to do this was if I created my whole image (do parts seperately because I dont have enough RAM to have such a large image), and then splice it.... Use image ready to save it as an HTML, and then print each picture... I hope this works ! =D |

Image ready is an option. Slicing will save you a bit of work. My technique is to use a fixed selection (8x11) to break down the image into multiple files. If your starting with multiple files you dont need to slice it. Just be sure to use guides/rulers to make sure everything lines up across each page. Ram is an issue if you want big images. Though I just checked and 2x3ft at 150ppi is only 55mbs. Thats not too bad. Also try checking your print dialog for any poster options. |

Slicing is the easiest way for me, I'm not excactly a pro, nor a beginner as far as photoshop. I dont understand what you mean by multiple pages, I looked all over the place and couldnt find anything, even in my print dialog.
