Almost looks like it was traced over with the airbrush. But right off the top of my head I would say a lot of blurring, color burning, and adjusting all the brightness/contrast/hue controls. Or maybe it's just some filter that I don't know about.

Naww - no Airbrushing there - its a technique often used in glamour Photography to simulate the old "soft focus" camera technique. I did a quick version for you below - its almost the same as the one you linked to but the values in mine are slightly different. First you duplicate the base layer and apply a gaussian blur - not too much. Now you set the layer mode to Soft Light. You can also try Hard Light or a combination of both as I did here.I also used a third duplicate set to screen and I used the advanced blending options to clip out the darker tones of this one. Then I masked off some of the blurring to restore some of the sharp outlines around her hair. There you go. |

Put all the blur layers into a layer set (in this case there were 3; Hard light, SoftLight, and Screen). Now attach a layer mask to the layer set and using a soft low opacity brush paint black into the layer mask. This will restore the original sharpness in the areas you want. Oh, and I forgot ... I aslo added two adjustment layers on the top. One Hue/Stauration to take the saturation down a little (Hard Light especially makes it too "hot"), and a Curves layer to adjust the colors a little. |

:D :D :D Don't know what to say really ... em is he the luckiest man alive? Maybe some work with the "make me not such an ugly bastard" tool! If your serious about that then my method should work - you will need to lower the tone a little before starting - try a curve to take the midtones down a little. Then do the steps I outlined above. Post the original and I'll do it for you if you want. |
