How do I get this grainy, high contrast effect? |

I use Photoshop and would like to know how to get this grainy high contrast effect. Look on the link below. www.chamillionaire.com See how Chamillionaire looks? That's what I need to know how to do. I've tried everything and nothing is working. I need this effect for an album cover, please help. |

You pretty much answered your own question. The first step is up the contrast (Image>Adjust). You could also (in addition to contrast) use the dodge/burn tools to to highlight/shade specific areas. Once your happy with that, on a new layer, blend in some sort texture effect (noise/scratches etc). You could also duplicate your photo and use unsharp mask (high amount, medium radius, giving a real harsh grainy texture) and then lower the opacity. |

I had tried something similar to that but it didn't come out good. That worked though. I appreciate it.
