Problem #1 I have a picture that is perfect in photoshop 300 res ..then brought into my quark layout, made a pdf through quark and the pic is blurry in the pdf. Problem #2 When I have been making PDF’s through quark , sometimes the people I send it to tell me that it is not high enough resolution , when I am sure that I set it to a high enough res. What am I doing wrong. This is what I did…made pdf by going to print, adobe pdf, cmyk, 300 resolution , binary data, clicked on properties and said edit for default settings chose Kodak cmyk newsprint, please help!!! thanks Danielle : |

Hi danielle, Without actually seeing your files and settings I think that your quark file sounds ok. If you imagine you have dozens and dozens of images within a document it can be a huge load on your system to show them all full-res. Therefore, Quark's default setting is to show a smaller preview version of an image rather than the full-res image. This preview will always look pixelated, but it has no bearing on the quality of the actual image. Used to be called a position if I remember correctly... When you export to a PDF, you will almost always see a slightly pixelated version of the image if you export using 'pre-press' or 'print' quality settings, ie: when you export at resolutions above 72dpi (your screen/web resolution). Again this will have no bearing on the actual output quality of the image. In the past I have shown the client web optimised versions of the PDF so they don't comment on the image quality. As for your print quality, I'm writing from a fresh OX-S install and as yet haven't installed any of my production software... so can't remember off of the top of my head to help ya... probably too much to drink lately. I hope I've helped - sorry if I've covered stuff you already know. Regards, cHUCk |
