Curve Drawing Question

ok i havent used photoshop in about 4 months now and yesterday i tried drawing a smooth curve and i completely forgot how to do it. i used the pen tool to draw a line and it keeps filling it with color. if anyone can guide me on how to drave a simple curved line with a single color id be grateful. thanx.

^ Use those settings, and it won't autofill your path.

To make a line, rightClick > "Stroke" -- or: make selection, fill, contract selection with X pixels and hit DEL. Erase the parts you don't need.
