Hi all, I have an opportunity at work to do some web design - basically the company needs a website and want me to get the software. I was going to get Dreamweaver but then for images wasn't sure if I should also get Macromedia Fireworks or Photoshop as that seems to be the standard for photo manipulation. Any advice gratefully received. Cheers Dave |

Either will work well. Fireworks could be purchased a long with Freehand and Flash with the Macromedia Studio Package, so that may be the most cost effective way.

We're TeamPHOTOSHOP, so we're under contract obligation to say "Photoshop"! :D Just kidding. Dek made a good point about Macromedia Studio cost wise. I use Photoshop with Image Ready to design and slice up stuff... then paste it together with Dreamweaver all the time. Don't know what the future of Fireworks and Freehand will be with Adobe buying out Macromedia. I would say Dreamweaver is safe for corporate consolidation because it's an industry standard. I would question the future of some of the other Macromedia titles. Photoshop is here to stay! |

Thanks for the advice - I just found out that Adobe have bought Macromedia doh - so maybe I will get Photoshop with the hope that there will be some upgrade in the future that will incorporate the bits of Fireworks that P'shop didn't have. Anyone hear anything on the rumour mill about plans for the Macromedia titles? Cheers Dave |

it's more about technique than a particular plug-in. check out dvGarage's photoshop basics 2 for LOTS of info on image extraction, he really knows his stuff. chris |
