Photoshop/Illustrator Question

I am an intermediate user in Photoshop. New user (today) LOL to Illustrator...

I did a tutorial and created some vector text in Illustrator, then I opend the file in Photoshop and added a layer for a background. Filled layer with Black.

Saved as a .psd then saved a .jpg and when viewing the .jpg...the background is an washed out grey/green color...

what don't I know?

Maybe the .ai was set to CMYK?
go back to illustrator, make sure color mode is rgb.
Alternatively just make a "regular" psd file, open illustrator, select and copy your art, switch to photoshop and paste. it works that way too.
When opening an ai file inside PS it gets converted to something you're given a chance to choose. Maybe you chose bad :P
