Anyone know how to do it? I've heard of a way to make an invisible watermark but I cant figure it out. I just need a way to put my name on an image without it interfering with the content of the image. Is there any way to do something like that!? Thanks. |

One quick way is to put whatever copyriight name your going to use over the image, and lower the "opacity" in the layers pallette. Just move the slider to the left and lower it to the desired effect, so that you can see it but it doesn't interfere. Another quick way to work the opacity is after you've typed your layer and switched to the move tool (the little black arrow) just hit a number on your number pad and it'll lower the opacity. For instance if you want to lower the opacity to 50% just hit 5 on your keypad. If you want it to be at 40 just hit 4 on your keypad. However, if you want it to be 45% you have to be quick and hit 4 and 5, one number right after the other. Hope this helps you. Cheers! |

I want the watermark to be completely invisible until i do something to it. Like have some sort of mark on it so when I open it in photoshop i can view the protection/watermark by applying a filter or something. So only if someone has an image that looks exactly like mine I can save it, open it in photoshop, then apply the filter so I can check for the mark. Something like that. Am i making sense? I dont really know how to explain exactly what I want.

What your talking about is digital watermarking. You can search google....though you wont find much other than pay services (digimark) and technical info. Its interesting to read about, but gets fairly advanced if i remember right. My suggestion is unless your running a stock house or similar (ie lose money due to theft), just throw on any copyright. The general rule is if you wanna be safe, dont publish it. Once it's on the net it's really out of your hands no matter what kind of protection you've used. Just keep the original files safe if you ever need to prove there your images. You can either : a) Do the low opacity/blended mark over the entire image (use layer styles if needed) b) hide many many small (6-8pt, non-antialised, low opacity) marks through the image c) just put one small mark in a corner. d) hide a large watermark in one of your channels. With a little tweaking using brightness/contrast, it should be fairly invisible (slight color shift) until someone views the channel. And at that point, if the watermark is big enough it should keep them from painting it out. Just dont do this metod on the original file.....do it on a copy/whatever your uploading instead. |

Resurecting (sp?) an old thread here... I too want to do this. I vaguely remember hearing about how to do it by placing text in the blue channel and messing with the levels. To view the invisible watermark you would open the file in Photoshop, turn only the blue channel and again mess with the levels to reveal the mark. I have messed with this a bit. But only been able to duplicate it on occasion. I am at wits end here. Can anyone explain how to do this simply by using adjustments in photoshop? I like "CypherXero's" Photoshop action found over on deviantart.com but don't want to have to install anything in different folders. [[ Reason being... I'm about to post some artwork on another forum and I know this guy is going to rip off my work. And after he does, I want to post directions so the other members can just open up 'his' file in photoshop, make a few adjustments and see the message I have inserted without adding software or action sets. ]] I've looked at some the links in this thread which lead me to other links but none of them are to detailed if the links are live at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Blacque Jacque Shellacque |

Here is exactly what I'm talking about. It's funny I run across an article about this on the day I'm driving myself crazy to remember how to do it. My question remains... how does one do this? I've asked the author of the article but she doesn't know. The below article can be found in Inside Photoshop Vol. 11 No. 9/11 Blacque Jacque Shellacque |

I am amazed at all of the 'beneficial' and 'informative' information that you dispensed upon us. There is so much information in your post it is overwhelming. Mere text can't begin to explain how drenched my words are with sarcasm. Even More Bester Regards, |
