Well, if you hjave used teh pen tool and created a vetor mask (right clicking inside mask and selecting Create Vector Mask) then it should be very smooth until you magnify alot alot alot. If you used "Make selection" then it will prolly be worse with Jagged Edges because it has come out like a bitmap shape and not a faux-vector So, just make vector masks when using the pen tool. Basically you are asking about a vector mask. Just outline your subject with the pen tool and use that vector as a mask. You could do the same thing with a layer mask but it would take a bit more effort.

I can't see what it is myself, but just do a VECTOR mask on the layer that you want to cut, that should do it... Personally, I just make a selection from a path which I have done and then delete the bit I don't want. That's just me arc |

Lazyroll, if you do that you are really limiting your creativity. What if you make a mistake? I always use masks, primarily because I don't like to repeat my work over if I screw up. Masks, Layer and Vector, learn them and love them. Romeo, you need to learn how to use the pen tool and make Vector masks. If you don't want to spend the time, you can use a layer mask, but you will need to make the brush 100% hard and reduce the spacing to 0, but that is REALLY going to slow down your computer. Feathering is going to make the edges smooth, but not crisp. Feathering BLURS the edge of your selection. Try this tutorial, I haven't done it, but it seems to cover the basics: http://www.alanhettinger.com/tutorials/vectormask/001.php Good luck. |

i did that tutorial in 04.Ok i do mself use the maks tool. But the vector mask hmmm.Is it the same as using the pen tool to trace the pic then hit the mask button?Cause i make a path then make it a selection. And ever tut i see they show u what to do but the never talk about it in detail. They wil say do this but they leave out alot of what they did to make it come out that clean. Do u kind of follow me?? So when i mask.should i go out side the pic?Or right inside at the edges? Say if i do mask it but i still see the jagged edges what do i do? I dont like the blurr tool cause it makes it looks soft. |
