Coloring hair

Hi,

I would like to learn how select/color open regions.

Example:


As you can see, some lines on the hair is missing, can I cannot use the magic wand. How would I color in the hair in this case?

Invisible lines are common in animation, but how would I color it in PS?

Create a new layer over the drawing and use the paintbrush to apply a color. Then go to the layers palette and switch the blend mode of the color layer to multiply.

But how do I add the shine?

Most likely masking and just drawing it in yourself. Draw the line like in the top picture and then mask out parts with a fuzzy brush until you get the desired results.
