text doesn't appear

I have tried making a text box, but when I type in it, no text shows up. I thought it was because the text was the same color as my background, but I highlighted where the text should have been and all I get is black, similar to if I've just typed a bunch of spaces. The only way I know what's in the box is that the layer box contains all the letters in the appropriate layer description. How can I fix this?

Maybe the text size it too big for the area you defined. Check the text size, put it down to 8 or something just to be sure it's not too big. Then maybe your font isn't complete. Like PunchLabel for example, if you type in lowercase letters, nothing shows up.

Make sure you have the type layer on the top? (I've done it before)
