Dripping blood effect

Ok. I have this idea for a graphic that has to do with blood, love, and a syringe...

And, since I haven't made anything in months, I have no clue as to how attack this blood concept.

I'm going for something like this (caution: slightly graphic), but not on a face texture, so it'll be easier.

I Think this is only a picture that its brightness/contrast was adjusted with photoshop... The blood is real (may be fake blood) but it wasn't made "in photosop"

Am I wrong?

Yeah, that definately wasn't made in photoshop... but I'd like to emulate something at least marginally close to it.
