I've been using photoshop 7.0 for quite some time now and i've realized that when I go to Filter > Render > Lightning effects.... i cant use the styles bar anymore....i use to be able to but recently i just cant anymore.... anyone know why i cant use the styles option in "Lightning effects" ? Would having win xp sp2 cause some conflict ? I've tried removing service pack 2 and the problem is still there thx in advance edit: i've even tried using a friends Photoshop CS and i cant use the styles in there either |

I couldn't think of anything else but, is this a paid version of photoshop? (legal version...) Or maybe you don't have read/write access to the C:Program Files folder if you are on a limited account or something. |

my ps 7.0 isnt a paid version ( :( i know....) but my friend's cs is. Im the admin of my pc.Like i've said befor... the styles used to work a while ago... then all of a suddent they didnt anymore... right now, my only guess was sp2 did something to screw up my photoshop... but doesnt make sense because i tried using the CS version and same thing i cant save any new styles i've made neither :( |

Styles can't be 1kb files with no extension. Heck, don't expect a file with no extension to be used at all. The Lighting Effect styles don't seem to be saved externally either (else there'd be an import/export option if you choose to download styles). As for remedying the problem, I suggest you uninstall completely and then install it again if you haven't already. |

Mark, the owner of Photoshopgurus.com discovered that there is a conflict with windows indexing system. Try to turn it on (or off) again. If you are student, you can get PSCS for a very decent price. Photoshop Elements3 will be out soon for 99$ |
