A got a strange one for y'all. I was just about finished with an image, one more effect to go, and I got a system crash. Now I though I was ok, I had saved the file about one minute before. But upon rebooting, photoshop would not open the file, saying its not compatible with this version.... Obviously I ws bummed, but the thumbnail was still there and looking good, so I opened the file in Fireworks and what would you know, the majority of the file was there. But, the weird thing is, some layers are completely wrong showing only part of the layer or nothing at all. I will be able to salvage most of my work in Fireworks by picking apart the good layers and saving as individual files. Would anyway care to comment on why this would happen, or if anyone has experienced a similar error before. Its a first for me. Thanks |

I haven't had it happen in PS...but after 15 years of CAD design (is that redundant?).... Don't just save often, save sequentially. Save your work in "versions".... ie. Kewl Image 1.2a, 1.2b, 1.2c. I've seen what happened to you many times in other design applications, the thumbnail looks kewl, but application will not open the file. Support desk answer is "sorry". Glad to hear all was not lost for ya! |

Thanks guys, glad to hear its not just my computer. I like the "save sequentially" idea I'll be using that in the future.
