How can i create this text effect? |

Hi, I saw this very neat text effect that i like. If you go to: http://www.msiamo.com/www/start.html and then go to the "contact page" the designer created the word Msiamo in a 3d effect, i think it looks very cool. Could someone direct me to a tutorial or explain how this 3d effect is created. Id love to try and create this effect. Thank you |

Looks like it was done in a 3D application like 3DStudioMax to me.

Rhino, While a 3D program would be best, you can still produce fairly good results using Photoshop. Below is a link to an example I made up just using Photoshop and a few simple techniques: Msiamo All you need to do is pick the font you want to use, then go to Layer > Type > Convert to Shape and then use the Paths palette to adjust the slant of your lettering. Fill it with a color and then duplicate each layer, moving it one pixel to the right each time. Merge after you get about 5 or 6 layers and then move those until you get the desired 3D thickness you want. The rest is just styles and gradients. Hope this helps. - dc |
