...but keep in mind that I just purchased Photoshop...

How do I cut around an object so that I can just paste that object on a different background?

Thanks in advance.

It was a simple question, so it only needs a simple answer.

I just readed a tutorial on that and really guys that the short way out of things, if you want a clean look then you would just have to use the pen tool. Quick note just go inside of the image and keep placing the pen tool around it, then go to your path tab an click on the cycle. this will give you doted lines around the image.

There are lots of ways to make a selection, which is why I linked to a page that had a lot of different methods. They are all useful for different situations.

Learning every method for creating accurate selections, and being able to look at an image and determine which method(s) to use for efficiently isolating that particular selection...master those two things and you will have practically mastered Photoshop. The rest is pretty much gravy.
