What is the best way to create a good bump map from a picture?
I have tried many methods, but I was wondering what the best is.

Generally you make the image black and white then play with levels until the highest area in the bump map is white and the lowest is black. What exactly are you using the bump map for?

Nothing in particular.

I just use bump mapping alot for designing CG for movies and skits I do.
I was just wondering what is the most efficient way of bump mapping
