Color Replacement tool

I just got Photoshop CS and am trying to use the color replacement tool as described in the tutorial. I am not getting a true color replacement. Navy blue may turn light neon blue, skin tone may turn neon pink. No true color to true color. What do I need to do? Thanks. :confused:

The color replacement tool replaces colors as determined by their underlying brightness and saturation levels. The only thing I can suggest is to try the color replacement tool followed by the dodge, burn and sponge tools until you like what you've got.
