Here is my first tutorial I have ever made, it is on how to make a car out of matrix codeing. 1. Get a picture of a car (or something else), and a picture of some matrix code. 2. cut out the car using the magnetic lasso and paste it on as a new layer on the picture of the matrix code. 3. Go to image, adjustments, Hue/Saturation., and adjust it so it looks like the color of you code. 4.Copy a large square chunck of code and place it on a new layer. 5. The go to Edit, Define Pattern, and call it matrix. 6.now go to your car layer and click a part of the picture other than the car and ckick on it with the magic wand tool. Then right click on that same spot and click on select inverse, then copy it. 7. Now drag this layer over the layer of the matrix code and erase around it until it fits in nicely with the rest of the code. (don't erase too much.) Then press control+E to merge the two layers into one. 8. Duplicate the green car layer twice, and set all three car layers mode to vivid light. 9.Then mess with the Hue/Saturation menu until you car blends in nicely. (Optional part which I did on the picture posted here) 10. Press the print screen button and copy and the paste image you get into a new image. Then use the magic wand tool on the car from your original image and copy and paste it on top of the new matrix car on a new layer. 11. Then while the lines are on the car you pasted, go to the car that is already there and copy and paste it onto a new layer. Then delete the first car you pasted in. 12. Mess with the Hue/Saturation on the car layer until it blends in with the matrix coding even better. There, I made my first tutorial. Post or PM me If you have any questions to ask me. Here is what the final result should look like. http://img7.exs.cx/img7/5029/carmatrix1.jpg |

wouldn't it be easier to just use a displacement map? The result would be kinda the same... and much faster I think

No, you can try it, it doesn't work, it comes out all wierd. It would be nice if things were that simple.

there you go granted - it may be subtler than yours but it took a lot less to make it and it can be improved.... |

Thats pretty cool, but not the effect I was going for. I made the car out of the text, while you made a blur of the car over the text. Just so I know, since I like what you did too, what settings did you use?

I used a displacement map - a greyscale version of the car and I added the whole thing on top of the original code pic. Then I erased parts of the distrorted version with a soft brush.

I like your effect mihai. To be honest, I don't really like that effect, Atomic. It's not really even recognizable as a car. The car is just there. It doesn't blend in with the background, or even appear like the text is coming from the background and wrapping around the car. Mihai's way of doing it improves on the text coming from the background onto the car, but not perfectly. Plus, Atomic, the text on the top of the 'car' is thick and doesn't seem to be letters. But I guess I don't have much say in it, I haven't done it better. Maybe I should, and I might.

Like I said, I think Mihai's is awesome, but it wasn't what I was going for. However, I could have done better if I got a better car picture and and a better (Higher res) version of the matrix code. I would use Mihai's technique for making an object, or vehicle that has a cloaking device, that would be cool.

Umm...they have a matrix tutorial. I was about to say that matrix image you had sucked, but I refrained until now. It would be great if make a background with that tutorial, find a higher resolution car, and show us the tutorial again.
