OK, I love some of the cool new things in Photoshop CS, but there are a few things that bug me and I'm hoping somebody might have a hint as to how to rectify these problems.

First, whenever I try to print anything over 20"x16" on my Epson 7600, photoshop freaks out and has a "C++ Runtime Error" whatever the he!! that means. So when I want to print anything big I'm stuck using tif format and Kodak Imaging which will let me print the pic but I have no color management control.

Second, what the he!! is a filter gallery, and how do I turn it off? It sucks, the filters take an eternity to load and apply. I often worry that my computer has frozen when I use these things.

I also have this problem where Photoshop keeps trying to access a drive that is no longer connected to my computer, but I have a feeling that this is a problem with the registry and not Photoshop.

Anyway, those are my problems, any ideas? I'm pulling my hair out.

for your second problem you should get this fix listed over at adobe
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=2552
worked wonders on some filters after install.

I don't minf the Gallery as such, but would be nice to have it as a preference setting (on or off feature)

The patch also has the pleasant side-effect of making the heal and patch tools considerably quicker too

Not really sure of your printing problems - you obviously have one of the printers that come with Adobe Postscript 3, could this be the source of your problem I wonder? (or at least contributive)

However you should not really be having any colour management issues if you have the kind of money to shell out for a large format printer, you should have your colour management set up to your work flow as a standard practise. It seems crazy to have all the hardware and then not set it up correctly (more an observation than a bollocking ;))

"C++ runtime error" takes me back to Win98
I would be looking towards OS, and the printer (printer interface).
Could also be some sort of virtual memory corruption? Shot in the dark for me.
Does it mention Visual C++ then a list of the errors?

just hunting around, and it could be corrupt ICC profile, a bad plugin, or a corrupt PS preference setting. Even a corrupt font can generate runtime errors in PS.

I'm thinking ICC profile due to when error happens. Try moving all ICC profiles out of the systems folder (no need to del) then try printing from PS again.

No harm in trying with 3rd party plugins removed either, or resetting preferences either. Though you will have to set dialog boxes back to how you like 'em

As for filter gallary, DONT remove the filter from filters directory on H/D.
Photoshop doesn't like this, and needs to be reset.
Would be nice to have choice about filter gallery. Too many resources, escpecially when you know exactly what you want to do.

As for trying to accessing other computer, try clearing start menu recent documents folder.
And also clear recent used files in photoshop.
