Create your scratch with a 1px pencil tool on a seperate layer, dulicate your layer and invert it (presuming B&W as starting colours) and move the layer one pixel down and to the left. Use a soft light for the blend mode. |

Ahh That's a different bag than the method I was trying to convey. Mine was more a scratched metal effect, what you are showing is a grunge effect. I know little about grunge techniques (other than the rudiments) but I could perhaps direct you to a few resources. I may even be able to come up with a useful suggestion (don't hold your breath;)) Now we know it's a grunge thing, I am sure more TP members will chip in with sage advice. It looks like the scratches are done through brushes, rather than any other PS technique. Your best bet would be to scour the numerous free brush site's. Use them in conjunction with blend modes and various levels of opacity etc.... |

http://qtone.sidez.net/ http://veredgf.fredfarm.com/vbrush/main.html http://www.photoshop-stuff.com/Photoshop-Downloads/Photoshop-Brushes.html http://www.dubtastic.com/resources.php I seemed to have forgotten the useful links, maybe some of these will get you started. If you have a scanner the world's your oyster! |

Not being funny but VBrush has over 150 sets each comprising of 20 odd brushes - that's a lot of brushes - none of them any use? I won't go into making your own brushes as a quick scan of the help files will tell you more than I could hope to, it's not exactly taxing. http://truly-sarah.com/brushes/brushlist.htm - could try this site too, but it's worthwhile making your own collection too |
