Hey guys. I'm an intermediate PShop user and was just learning now to work with vector shapes when all of a sudden my color picker went crazy. Before this problem I'd have WHITE in the top left corner and BLACK in the bottom right corner and a full spectrum of colors to choose from in between on my main color pallete. Now every time I choose a color on the main color pallete the Highs and Lows bar on the right hand side of the main pallete changes and it makes it difficult to select a color I want. I must've changed a default feature in error somehow. I tried uninstalling PShop7 and re-installing hoping that the "default" settings would again return...but that didn't work at all. Please let me know if you know what I goofed on. Thanks a lot!!! |
I tried uninstalling PShop7 and re-installing hoping that the "default" settings would again return...but that didn't work at all. Please let me know if you know what I goofed on. Thanks a lot!!!
There are preference sets that do not get reset when you reinstall, unless you know how to delete everything associated with Photoshop. Most folks don't know where to find all the files. You can reset all of them in a grand trashing, but it's smarter to know how to fix things selectively. Check the following link thoroughly, and BOOKMARK IT for future reference. You'll be glad you did. http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/6712.htm Now...as for fixing your color palette: Open it by clicking of your foreground color in the Toolbar. The Color Picker dialogue will appear. Make sure you have the "H" radio button selected in the "H S B" (Hue, Saturation, Brightness) color model. I'll bet you have something else selected. |

Thanks very much Utopian23! That fixed my goof up. I had the "L" radio button selected. I look forward to chatting with you guys.. I'm just now starting to feel comfortable with PShop7 and I can't seem to stop using it. I get home from work and it's all I do until late at night. I'm HOOOKED!!! Anyways...it's very much appreciated and I guess we'll talk soon. |
Thanks very much Utopian23! I get home from work and it's all I do until late at night. I'm HOOOKED!!!
You're welcome. That problem has baffled many people, including long-time users. What you're doing now?...that's how I learned Photoshop so well. I'd been dabbling with it since version 2.5.1, using it for fun, as well as some small projects at various jobs. When I finally bought my own copy of version 4 back in 1997, I spent a full year, working with it for 8-10 hours a day, after working a full shift, almost every day. My friends thought I dropped off the face of the planet, that's how little contact I had with the outside world during that period. Buy some good books! I strongly recommend Deke McClelland's "Photoshop Bible." I still refer to books often. |

I will definitely search for it at Barnes. I'm a typical 2004 PC user...(don't like to pay for anything)...I've looked far and wide for free tutorials and have found some excellent ones (heathrowe.com) but I've been thinking about just getting a book but didn't know which would be a good one...So thanks very much for that suggestion. And I know exactly what you mean...I find myself actually searching for people with PShop knowledge at parties and so on so that I can pick their brain...not a very good mingle topic though. lol. Thanks again guys and I'll be Postin'. |

The different radio buttons are quite helpful, actually. I use the 'R' one, as well as the two that show the color faded to black, and the color faded to white.
