Hello, I'm having trouble grasping this "Layer Knocks Out Drop Shadow" via LayerStyles>DropShadow. It's defined as: Controls the drop shadow's visibility in a semitransparent layer. I don't understand. If the layer is semitransparent, and "Layer Knocks Out Drop Shadow" is unchecked, I see no difference in the shadow.. Can someone help me out with some examples please? Curious... ;) Fess |

Basically it makes the thing that has a drop shadow look translucent by making the drop shadow visible behind the object. If you can wait a little while, I will get on my computer with FTP and make you an example and upload it to my site. EDIT: The thing you are doing wrong is setting the overall opacity of the layer. This won't change anything. You have to set the fill opacity of the layer. If you have Photoshop CS (maybe 7), you can set the Fill opacity directly from the layers pallete. Under Opacity: you will see Fill:. If not, double click on the layer (Advanced Blending) and set the Fill opacity there. For my example, I have set the Fill Opacity of the rightmost circle to 75% (and unchecked Layer Knocks out Drop Shadow, of course). This makes the shadow visible under the object, giving the object a translucent look. EDIT AGAIN: That link does not work all the time. My bandwidth got cut down...It'll be up soon, as I will start buying my hosting. Sorry, try tomorrow, my bandwidth will have been reset. |

Allanon... I got it now. Thanks for the explaination. I'm on CS, when I have time I like to explore those little options that never get any attention. I see how the translucent look can be achievied much easier now. ;) Regards Fess |
