can anyone help me with this one please - Placing an image into a shape so that the image takes on the shape

Select the image and copy it (ctrl + c) then select the shape you want to put the image into, and go to edit -> paste into.

Sorry but tried this and nothing happens - don't even get the paste into option showing

Thank you NL but this applies to text - I have used the shape tool to create a shape and want the image inside that shape - yeah just like the ones on the link page but not using text.

I think you have to rasterize the shape layer before you can paste the stuff into it. Might be wrong here, but try it out. |

You need to create a Clipping Group: Just put your image on top of the shape layer, then ^[Alt+click] in the line between them in the layers palette (or hit [CTRL+G] ) No need for rasterizing, and it is a non-destructive method. |

Also.. Copy your image to the clipboard... Ctrl + click on the shape layer to create a selection... Create anew empty layer, while the selection is still active Then, Edit/ Paste Into. This will create a new layer with the image masked into the previous shape selection. hope thats helps ya hetahrowe |

U can also go under the channels palette... and convert ur shape into a normal selection.
