Photoshop 8 (or CS, as some have taken to calling it) ships with a native "Fibers" filter that is a direct descendent of current Lead Photoshop Engineer Chris Cox's set of filters from 1993-94; back then (before he even started working for Adobe), it was called "Hairy Noise." IF you don't see the "Fibers" filter available in your installation of Photoshop 8, have another look at your installation disk. It's there, and you failed to install it. Dumbass. I call you a dumbass, because "Fibres" or "Hairy Noise" is a BRILLIANT bit of coding that helps create great, organic textures. Different every time you run it. If you don't have Photoshop 8 yet, AND you have a Mac (no Windows version available, never was available for Windows before), AND you can launch Photoshop 7 or earlier in the Mac Classic OS, I have spoken with Chris and I have been given written permission to distribute his old version of "Chris's Filters". I am only allowed to distribute his entire original package, as he released it way back then. There are 16 total filters and they only work for Macs, under Photoshop 7.0.1 or earlier, launched in Classic OS. And they're dead-solid FREE. What say you? |

I'd give you a link on my server to download those old Chris Cox filters, but he authored them ONLY for Macintosh (OS 9.x and earlier) and they will ONLY work with Photoshop 7.0.1 and earlier. "Fibers" in Photoshop 8 (for both Mac and Windows) is essentially his old "Hairy Noise" filter with a better, updated GUI. Plus, he cleaned up the code a bit. So sorry. |
