Hi, I created a logo for a family member's new restaurant in photoshop but now it's time to make that logo into a sign. The company doing it needs a vector image obviousy, and I'm just wondering how you do that? The company doing it was useless so I'm hoping for some input from you guys. Any help would be great, Thanks! Thusenth |

well if it's a simple logo you could just use the auto trace tool in Illustrator.

It is possible to do it in Photoshop!!!! Check out this action that Mathias Vejerslev and myself have co-developped: http://www.96ppi.net/ddt_vectorizer.zip look at the possible results! http://96ppi.net/vectorizer/ches/ If you are smart enough, it is possible to edit an image with several colors, more info at: http://www.photoshoptechniques.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7218 |

Spectre could you explain that please... I mean how is it possible to make vector in photoshop. Photoshop is buit on pixels and illustrator on shapes, so how is it possible to make something bigger in photoshop without streching the pixels? Or does it just give the vector look? |

As Heathrowe stated it, there is vector support in Photoshop since V6. (and Illustrator has some wonderful tools able to edit raster files that Photoshop does not have, like enveloppe distortion, go figure...) To use the action I provided, download the file, uncopress the zip file to a given location on your HD, then in the actions palette, , go to the flyout menu and select load action, and navigate to where you unzipped the action. you'll then be able to play the actions... Glad that you liked it, Heathrowe. Do you remind Computer Arts #83, vectorization in Photoshop? ;) I'mm working on a new version of a fully fledged color and B&W vectorization tutorial... to be published online! |
