How do i do this

Hello,
I've recently saw this cool wallpaper and I've been trying to reproduce one of the effects in it. As you may have figured out unsuccesfully. Can any one tell me how do you create the light source in the center and all the rays of light comming out of it??

it kinda looks like they used an airbrush mask over a white background orrrrrr,
did the 'crystals' thing (you know with the polygon lasso) and applied 'screen' blending mode to a bunch of them but made them partially transparent.

making these things is a really difficult thing to do. you have to deal with so many layers and you have to use so many blending options. there isn't really a step by step on how to do them though. sometimes people incorporate 3d rendered shapes into the images. or sometimes its all photoshop. my advice is start practicing using your photoshop and blending a lot of layers using different blending modes.

yeh striders stuff is hard to do. And don't bother asking him because he forgets how to do a lot of it after. lol. as far as the streams coming out of the center they appear to be done with the wave effect and then the center is basically a lot of layers to it. If you look at his advanced tutorial and then take some of the aspects from that and incorperate them you sould be able to get something similar. it takes a while though. I tryed one day and ended up with garbage. :rolleyes:

btw what do you think of the tuts, havn't really got feedback on them.

both are set up well, i'd suggest doign what most flash sites do though and making the tuts in normal html as a popup window, that way if people want to print um or something. otherwise everything looked good.

most people hate pop ups but what i might do is have a downloadable pdf of the tuts.
