help!....I can't move my picture into another!...

Please help!....I've made a selection to put into another picture and when I press the move tool to move it into the other picture it just bangs up against the edge...
if anybody can help me with this I would really appreciate it,.....

make sure that both of your pictures are the same image mode, like grayscale or rgb, and same color bit depth.
