I'm trying to save a photoshop file as two PCX files: the image data in one and the alpha map in the other. I can extract the alpha map into a separate file easily (even have a little macro for it). My problem is that I cannot remove pixel-specific transparency from the image data. As in, I cannot flatten the image without it applying the transparency to the image data. What I would like is to make all the transparent pixels in a layer into fully opaque versions of themselves (same H/S/B, different 100% opacity). If i use flatten image, photoshop applies the transparency to the background color. I think what needs doing is accessing the PSD file's internal alpha channel data, and deleting it. Does anyone have a clue about what to do, or if this can even be done, or know someone I could ask? please post your reply here as well as email me at ragnarokz@hotmail.com Thanks a ton! --Tim A. |

Actually I've figured out the solution. If I save for web as a gif or png-8 with no matte, it gives me the desired effect. So if I just translate the gif to a 24-bit pcx afterwards, I have my two pcx files. For anyone else who needs to use this paired file technique, I hope this helps. :D Anyways, that's all for now. If you've any questions about what I was talking about, do post. --Tim A. |
