Hi Everyone!

I am trying to cut out the black and grey glow in this image. I have tried everything I know (lasso, magnetic lasso, magic wand, eraser) and nothing has worked.

Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you

Yeah, just trace what you want with the pen tool, go to the Paths tab, click on your path, right click it, select "Make Selection". Then just copy and paste.

It's in the same area as your layers (bottom right of screen).

Or zoom in 500% and use the polygonal lasso to trace around it.

The Paths tab is the right most tab in that window. Or you could've gone to Window->Paths.

CTRL+ENTER works fine and dandy as well. Same goes with stuff like Free Transform, etc. ;)

The thing is polygonal lasso is that you really can't capture curves that well, plus with paths it's easier to fix up mistakes or add on extra stuff.

Also if you use the freeform pen tool (the second one in the pen dropdown menu) and turn on the "Magnetic" option, you should be able to click on the edge of the black and loosely run the pen around the object to make an initial path then go in with the regular pen tool to clean up the path. make selection as mentioned above.
