I'm going to have a solid surface which I want to make it look like it has a holes in it. Sooner or later I will probably switch the perspective on the surface, add the holes, and have tentacles coming out of it. So basicly I want to know how to add some sort of holes to a surface. http://tinmanalley.sureshopping.com/display.asp?sku=50&rP=default, If you go there, the holes that are in the turtles back are what I want. Kind of with the beveled edge and everything. Sorry I gave such a poor description of the effect I'm trying to achieve. Any help appreciated. |

I'm a newbie at this stuff, but I think I can help. There may be a better way to do this also. Create a new layer Make a selection for the hole Fill the selection with black Go to Select->Modify->Expand (pixel size you want for the ring around the hole) Then CTRL+ALT+click on the layer thumbnail (this will deselect the hole you just made) You should be left with a ring selection around the hole Next, with the selection still active, create a new layer and fill with white You can now add layer styles to the white ring (try the bevel and color overlay) Give this a try, maybe the gurus will have more ideas. |

Try: Make new Layer Make a circle with the ellipse marquee tool then subtracting from that circle another circle to give you a ring. Fill the ring with black give it a bevel and emboss layer style and perhaps a color overlay if you don't like black. Duplicate the ring and chance the layer style on the new ring to pillow emboss. Make layer below the bottom most ring and select the area inside the ring and fill with color of choice. put the rings and color fill layers into a set and duplucate the set to make multiple rings. Good Luck. CryptoManiac |
