I may sound like an idiot, but I'm confussed about this full screen mode. I'm taking a digital imaging class and we use Macs and PScs there. At home I have a PC with PS7. In school, I can work in full screen mode and pan the image out from under the palettes. I can't do this on my home PC. Is there a way to make this work or is it a Mac or PScs feature?

I know how to get into full screen, but I want to be able to pan the image out from under the palettes. In other words, I'd like to be able to work on the image without the palettes getting in the way, but I don't want to remove the palettes either.

the palletes are either beside the artwork your working on, or on top of it. There is really no where else for them to go. You can press Tab which will hide the palettes, then just press tab again when you need to use one of them. This is the easiest way to maximize screenspace while you work on your document.

I guess I'm just used to other graphics progs, where the toolbars are fixed to the sides and don't interfere with the working space. In class, with PScs and the Macs, I can be in full screen mode, have the image zoomed out(less than full screen), and still pan the image to anyplace on the screen. This must be a new feature with CS or maybe it's the Mac. Thanx for your input. If anyone else can shed some light on this, it would certainly help. |

or if you want a quick and cheaper method, just memorize all those handy shortcut keys and with using tab you can toggle between max workspace and pallets view.

Being able to pan images off the screen in full screen mode is a CS feature; it's not present in 7.0 or earlier. In the older versions, the panning stops when any of the edges meet the edge of your monitor's viewable space. I've heard problems where after you've panned off the workspace in FS mode, the window's title bar occasionally hides outside of the clickable space in your Photoshop window when switching out of full screen mode; it's possible that it's a PC-only bug.
