Clipart and background problem

Hi,
I've downloaded some clipart for my web site but I don't know how to remove the white background around the image... please help me!!! :confused:

well you can import them into photoshop "save for the web" and set the color transparency to white or what ever color you want to take away.

...and if that leaves unwanted jagged edges, you could use the Background Eraser tool.

you could always just set the layer mode to multiply, whole lot easier...

That is, if no part of the clip art you want is white.

was very psyched to see this thread because it seems like a much easier way to get rid of that background!

anyway, so i tried it and the only option that wasn't greyed out to choose was import as 'pict resource'. so i chose it and got an error that wouldn't let me import the clipart.

any suggestions? i am using photoshop 7, btw.

that's what i usually do...but this thread was about a shortcut to eliminate that white background around the image instead of using the magic wand/eraser tool. 'dreamdesign' suggested importing the image and then setting the color transparency to white to eliminate it. however, this didn't work for me.
