Applying slices to another PSD...

Ok, i'm pretty sure this can be done and i think i've done it before, just need to figure out how again. I've got a series of PSDs that I'm slicing up for use in a site (PS 5.5 and ImageReady). In ImageReady I have one of the PSDs sliced up and put into HTML. I've set up the top so that it can be reused on each page, but the sides and one image up top will change out in each section. How can I apply those slices to the other PSDs in ImageReady so that all my cuts will be the same? Thanks...

G'Day Chris...

Here ya go:

• In Image 1, make all of your slices the way you want them.
• Select ALL slices (with Slice Select Tool active, just do a Command/CTRL-A)
• In the Slice Palette, click on the little right-facing triangle, and select "Copy Slices." from the fly-out menu. (The usual Copy/Paste shortcuts don't seem to work with this and the next operation).
• Make Image 2 active, Go to the Slice Palette and again click on the triangle.
• Choose "Paste Slices."
• Repeat the previous 2 steps with images 3, 4, 5, ....n.

I had done it before also, but couldn't remember it off the top of my head and it made me curious.

Opened up ImageReady and dug around for a minute and it all came back to me.

My question is....if Adobe is going to incorporate the slicing functions into Photoshop, why do they stop halfway? From the exploration I did (I don't do a whole lot of web work), you can't select "ALL Slices" in Photoshop, nor can you copy/paste them like you can in IR.

In fact why the hell are they two separate applications at all? I'd like to hear the corporate thinking behind this decision.
