Adding gloss to wood textures

Hi I was wanting some advice as how to make a wood texture appear lacquered in photoshop, I havebeed experimenting with text and then placed same on a wooden panel back ground, looks okay but a gloss finish would improve it, very new to photoshop but loving it, any advice appreciated

I'd use light effects - play around with that - use the alpha channels to create the profile you want and use light effects. There are a few tutorial arounds using this way. Also - then you can adjust curves to give that gloss.
