I take photos of jewelry and work with them in Photoshop 6.0. I'm trying to take photo of very small items in closeup mode. If I print them out at normal size, they come out very clear but if I resize them so that I may fit many shots on a 8.5 X 11 inch page, the become very blurry. How do I resize closeup shots in photoshop so that they come out clear at smaller sizes?

I've been struggling with this for a long time. Can anyone help?

what size photos do you shoot?
If i was taking photos of Jewellery and stuff..... i would take it as large as possible and then trim it down afterwards.. this way ..... there is more to workj with......

once you get it onto PC...... you can make an action that would go something like this

1) Open
2) Resize for Print (this can be found in the help menu on PS 7 and possibly 6 but im not sure)

its really that easy..... failing that i have no idea what you could do.... try sharpen ONCE.... not twice.... it wioll make it look silly if you sharpen it Twice

How are you resizing them? If you are reducing the resolution they will become very blurry. Just use Image > Image size to change the size of them.

Here is some help on creating contact sheets in photoshop though: http://www.google.com/search?q=contact+sheet+photoshop&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

Hi Lazy roll! I think you've sent me in the right direction based on some preliminary experiments at home. When I get to work, I'll try it with the real thing and if it works.... I will be extemely grateful for your help. I'll let you know how it goes.

Mahalo,

Kevin

Hi Deker, I have been resizing in Image Size. I got the tutorial on contact sheets. That was cool and will be a great help in the future. I look forward to playing with that function and see if I can get the contact sheet pics clear. I think I have to take my photos in Max pixels instead of Minimum I now use. As you can probably tell, I'm totally new to teamphotoshop but I'm already digging it. Thanks for the tip. Kev

you have to take your images at a resolution higher than the output to start with, even if it's a closeup.

I've been struggling with the same issue. When I resize using image resize, the pictures are really small on the 8x11 layout. What resolution will make them clear? They are clear on the screen, but print blurry. They are automatically 72 DPI from the digital camera.
Need precise directions
Thanks,
Gelato

if they're at 72 DPI, that can result in blurryness too :/ try uping the DPI before printing (note this reduces over all resolution) 150+ is suggested for a qulaity laser print.

So now I'm confused. some say you cannot just type in a new resolution on the photo you intend to print. some say this will not improve clarity. So do I just resize in the Image resize box? Is there anything else I should do? I'm trying to just print out snapshots at this point ..Been shooting them from the camera at 300DPI.
thanks,
cinnamon

Hi,
On a different note,
There used to be a print mode that let the user print all replys to a question on 1 sheet of paper. What happened to that selection? How can I do that?
