Alright, ive been trying to figure out how to do this for a while and I still really have no idea. Take a look at this image here: http://ee.1asphost.com/praetoriansentry/DAVID_CROSS.jpg If you'll notice.... the face is made out of lines of varying thickness. Where the face is darker the lines are thicker. Its obviously much more that just scan lines. How can i go about doing this to an image. I already have one that is pure Black and White, but where do i go from here. Im not incredibly experienced with photoshop but i can understand tutorials. If you can point me to a tutorial that would be nice. Or if you could just give me steps to do this i would appreciate it. Thank you. |

Well..... it looks to me as if what they did there was just use the pen tool...... Basically.... Drawing straight lines over images and then where there is a dark shadow or dark area on the face..... increasing the line size suddenly..... hope that helps |

wow, that is a neat old school effect. maybe this would work: -desaturate, like youve already done -stick a stripe pattern layer on top, make sure it is black on transparent, not on white -rasterize the pattern layer, and gaussian blur it a bit (2 px maybe) -change the blend mode for the pattern to color burn, so the lighter blacks bleed together with the dark areas of the photo -adjust the levels of the photo layer and watch what happens to the black lines, they should get bigger in some spots -use the pattern layer as a mask by ctrl-clicking it then select the photo layer, and then ALT-click the mask button at the bottom (to invert the mask) -then, play with levels some more, or go back and try a wider/thinner stripe pattern, different blur, whatev eh? |
