Morning, I've a shed load of Illustrator 9 EPS files that I want to have contact sheets of. I thought the most obvious (and quickest) way to do this would be to go throught Photoshop's Contact Sheet command. The problem I have is that although all the EPS files are pure vector, Photoshop somehow manages to bitmap them horrendously. I've played around with the size and resolution of the page and to open the files at but with no success. If anybody could help it'd be much appreciated. Cheers, Steve. Photoshop is NOT a vector programme... which sorta sucks... i made that mistake for a long time too.... it cannot handle the EPS file without changing all vectors into pixel amounts..... Sorry MArc |

Thanks for your reply Marc. I know Photoshop's a raster programme and that it would convert the vector to raster, I just want to be able to specify what resolution/size it is done at when creating a contact sheet (in the same way you can when you open an individual EPS in Photoshop). Ta, Steve. |

When you open eps files in photoshop you should be given a dimension and resolution option dialog box...

I think you can do it. The key to making them look nice is to have a high resolution setting in the Contact Sheet setup window. You might have it on the default of 72dpi. Try 150 or 300, and your .eps files should look a 'shed load' better. :D

Thanks for the suggestions but the EPSs are being opened through the CONTACT SHEET command and so don't give you an option to specify the resolution the file should be opened at only the resolution of the composite conact sheet page. As the EPSs are mono the setting for the contact sheet page are 300dpi (press quality) in a greyscale colourspace. When the action is performed it almost seems like photoshop opens and rasterizes the EPS the enlages it several hundred percent before transferring it to the contact sheet page. |
