ok iv been playing around with the grids to good effect all night, but i cant get my head around this.....how can i make the grid fade away AND dissapear.....coz all iv been able to do is fade it from one colour to another and then maybe turn the opacity down hoping that it will give the impression that its actually dissapearing :| iv tried using the various gradient pickers, foreground to background, foreground to transparent. but it always leaves the parts of the grid im trying to fade away in its place, just darker than before. how can i make it really fade away and gradually dissapear? thanks in advance for any help |

Kiani...is this something like what you're after ? Then, If you make a layer mask on the "gridlayer" and in that mask put a gradient (foreground to transparent) you should end up something like this (wich by the way is very fast done and not intended to be nice looking...), then test, try, fiddle around with it to make it suite your preferences... P-man If ya want I can mail you this really shi**y .psd file so you'll see whats been done, You will atleast get the idea...post here if so... |

hey P-man, thanks for that tip about the layer mask, i chose to add a layer mask (hide all option) over the grid layer and then used the gradient (foreground to transparent) and it works fine. is there a way to manually remove the grid and make it appear transparent, like maybe with a brush? so i can remove it gradually at the bits i prefer? thanks for your help this is en example of what i did, its kinda silly, just a picture of my tissue box inverted. http://www.btinternet.com/~i.kiani/junk/tissues.jpg |

Nothing to it, Kiani. We all help eachother around here, you now... 'Bout this: [QUOTE]Originally posted by kiani [B]is there a way to manually remove the grid and make it appear transparent, like maybe with a brush? so i can remove it gradually at the bits i prefer?[QUOTE] I really don't know what ye mean. But I just got up and have a pillow inserted in my face, so I might be a li'l slow just now...;) Make certain bits disappear ? Just make more gradiants on the same layer...don't know if it works in any version of PS, but in 6.0 it does. Just do one gradient and if you're not satisfied with how it turned out just ctrl+z it and do another ...Or make one and then press shift and do another on the same layer, that way you can start out with just a tiny gradient and build it up to what you like, get it ? Like this Yet another pic without any real effort behind it :D |

why do you insist on using gradients? I don´t know, but I allways use either the eraser with a huge smooth brush, or make a selection with the lasso, and the feather it with a lot of pixels, and hit delete. I hate gradients.. :D |

I don't insist on gradients at all. This was the way I knew, so I told about it. If you have other, more easy to use stuff, you tell'em, right ? Wich you just did. Just trying to help out when I can, and since that does not happen to often, I better do it when it does :-)
