Photo to Marvel Style toon

Hello,

I'm looking for a way to take a regular photo of (person, place, object) and turn it into a fairly realistic hand drawn toon such as marvel or darkhorse comics etc.

I know about the find edges filter/desatruate/levels technique and then hand color. I'm looking for more realism in reference to toon styles.

Any ideas guys?

i think to get what you want you would need to rely on more hand-drawn approaches, and get away from filters, handtracing, etc. i would imagine the time it takes to replicate a Marvel style in PS would be a lot compared to having someone do it?

If people could that using some quick filters and keyboard shortcuts, then comics would be quite overrated dont'cha think? ;)

Hand-drawn approach would produce the best results.

combination of hand drawing and computer work.get print out of picture and then trace outlines in the pic(keylines),then scan the trace in and fill with relevant colour

Yeah, I know that the hand drawing is the way to go, but it takes me so long to draw out a figure.

I guess trace an scan is the easiest for now. Shading/coloring is a piece of cake in PS.
