Hey Gang,

First a thanks for the forums. I'm new. A good friend suggested this as one of the best places to go for Photoshop questions and I can quickly see why. Love the layout too. Very easy on the eyes which is nice after looking into the screen for hours on end - but so much for intros - lemme get onto a question.

I'm new to PS, having been working solely with Fireworks since back on version 2 or 3. I'm quickly seeing what all the rave is about though in this program. I've now gone through at least 15 hours of video tutorials over at Lynda.com. Yet ironically two very small things are bugging me.

1) How do I quickly add a 1 pixel border to an image?

This may be sloppy, but in FW (for instance when creating an avatar) - I'd just size it down to 64x64 - add a 1 pixel outter bevel at 100% opacity - trim - and I was done.

I searched the forums and saw where I believe something to achieve the same effect was done by creating a new layer - filling it - moving it underneath my image layer and somehow sizing that to be one pixel bigger than my image layer on all corners - but somehow that seems a bit labor intense to me. Is there a quicker way to do this?

Also..

2) How do I get rid of this black one pixel line that surrounds all my images when I open them?

I'm talking about the one that appears if you open your viewing window open larger than the image itself. Or I guess alternatively is there any reason Photoshop adds this border there?

Thanks. And again - cool forum! Now that I've said hello I promise to be shorter with my questions. :p

Cheers!

1) CTRL+A, having the lasso (for instance) active, rightClick > Stroke, Choose "inside" and 1px as the width.

2) If I understand you correctly, I don't think you can get rid of that frame, it's there to stay. :p

Welcome to the board, I'm sure you'll like it here.

HA! Perfect.... Thanks. :D

And thanks also for the welcome. I'm sure I'll be sticking around.

Feel like an 8 year old kid who's been having a blast playing Missle Command for eons but just got Defender for Christmas.

Anybody remember that one? lol :D

buttons, buttons, and more buttons..

Cheers!
