Hello, I've noticed in some tutorials in the Down&dirtytricks book it asks to select a percentage of a color. Example (30% black, 45% gray) I don't understand how to accurately get a percentage of color. I hate math. Can anyone explain how to get percentages of color conveniently in Photoshop? Regards Fess |

Open your info palette. Set the palette options to whatever mode you are working in and total ink or grayscale to measure your blacks. Then take your cursor and move it around the screen.

Hmmmm... I see that if I use the C.M.Y.K in the color picker, I can also get percentages (quickly) 30% black C: 0% M: 0% Y: 0% K: 30% how correct is this, or have I misunderstood this paticular use of CMYK. Regards Fess |

So long as your working in CMYK, it is completely accurate. You can switch photoshop over to Proof Colour (Ctrl + Y or View > Proof Colour) if you are in RGB to be 100% sure. I like the total ink option to make sure I am not running more then 300% ink coverage.
