Help on Background |

hi everyone im new to this Forum and i had a questiong, i am using photoshop 7 and i am working on a background for some one and the picture i have is of a car and i would like to make the background black and white but keep the car in color can some tell me how i can do this or give me a web site that has this tutorial. thanks alot Peter |

use either : the magic wand tool, the pen tool or the lassoo tool to make a selection around the outline of the car.... then.... when you have the selection... press CTRL and I and then go to.. image : adjustments : desaturate and then the background will be black and white with the car in the original colours |

is their another way? becasue i did this befor like a long time ago but i forgot how to do it. Can i use extract in some way?

umm.. you could try but it would be better to do it the way that i just said.. you would get a better result

dont use the magic wand tool... either pen tool for selection, or duplicate your layer and extract the car or whatever via the pen tool or extract filter.

ok ill try that one because i didnt want to do it with the pen because my mouse is kinda screwed but ill try that, thanks for the help by the way

Press "Q" to switch into Quick Mask Mode. Now you can use a paintbrush to paint your selection. Use the Paintbrush and Eraser to make a perfect selection. Press "Q" to get back to Preview mode.
