For the longest time I've been wanting to learn how to do this stuff. How is all that stuff done? Like for the nav buttons, how do you create those? The seperators especially. I need to go back to the basics of PS...

Yeah, like random said, spend some quality time with gradients and take a leap into pixel art as well. It's not as hard as it seems.
